Mapping a shared network folder as a network drive is done using the 'Map Network Drive' wizard. The process differs slightly when using either Windows 7 or 8. The Windows 8 Version can be found here - How to Map a Network Drive - Windows 8.
1. Start 'Windows Explorer' and go to 'Computer'.
2. Then click on 'Map Network Drive' from the top tool bar.
3. The 'Map Network Drive Wizard' will then be displayed. Select a letter that you would like to assign to the drive.
4. Then you will need to choose the file that you would like to map. Click browse to find the correct file, followed by 'OK' when you're happy with your chosen file.
Note: Can can alternatively type in the file path on the left of the 'Browse' button. e.g. \\'MyPC\Documents\
5. Tick both 'Reconnect at Sign-in' and 'Connect Using Different Credentials' followed by 'Finish'
6. You will then be prompted for a 'Username' and 'Password'. Enter these ensuring that before the 'Username', enter the Computer name followed by backslash ( \ )
7. Select 'OK' once you've entered your credentials.
8. Your new Mapped Network can be found in 'This PC' followed by 'Network Locations'
